The Wildflower Collection Release

Hi and welcome to the new website. I’m Katie, owner and artist of Preserved by Katie. I am a nature artist, specialising in floral preservation. I will be using this space to share my thoughts, passions and update you all on my collection releases. But for now, I would like to proudly announce the release of my Wildflower Collection.

This Collection represents everything I have been working towards for 18 months! My goals, my new ideas, my failed attempts, my highs and my lows all leading to my first collection release. When I first started out on my flower preservation journey 5 years ago, I had one version of what I created – my small discs of preserved nature. One day I would love to tell you the story of how I started creating them, but for now I’ll stick to this story. 18 months ago, I made my first large circle.  It was beautiful but floppy and a bit useless. I spent the following months working out how to strengthen the larger pieces and settled on resin. I hadn’t worked out how to display them but I still took them to a craft fair to see what people thought. There I met Margaret (who purchased two of my framed pieces), and she asked if I could make her a large piece that could be hung as she could picture exactly where it would live in her house. This took me a long time to work out and perfect, but I am so excited that my first two hanging pieces are available to buy tonight.

I started this collection during the first lockdown – my summer exhibition had been cancelled, I was feeling uninspired and I wasn’t sure what I was working towards. Then, some friends showed up at my door with handfuls of wildflowers and this was just the start. This collection wouldn’t have been possible without them, and you will see some of their names in the titles of the pieces.

I am so proud of how far I have come and I am incredibly excited to share this collection with you. I hope you love these pieces as much as I do.
